# getNetworks

> Returns a list of all networks supported on Codex. Reference for the getNetworks query in the Codex API: arguments, response fields, and usage.

> [!NOTE]
>
> For a browsable, always-up-to-date list of supported networks and their chain IDs, see the [Supported Networks](https://docs.codex.io/networks.md) page.

## GraphQL

```
type Query {
  getNetworks: [Network!]!
}
type Network {
  name: String!
  id: Int!
  networkShortName: String
}
```

### Example

[Test this query in the Explorer →](https://docs.codex.io/explore.md)

```graphql theme={null}
{
  getNetworks {
    name
    id
    networkShortName
  }
}
```

### Usage Guidelines

* Use the returned `id` as the `networkId` argument in other queries (e.g. Ethereum is `1`, Solana is `1399811149`)
* Network IDs are stable — cache the result rather than fetching it on every request
* To check indexing health for specific networks, use [`getNetworkStatus`](https://docs.codex.io/api-reference/queries/getnetworkstatus)
